This sometimes informative though mostly scattered and base kitchen guide is aimed at the uncouth male teenager, college student, or even a hopeless adult singleton. Earl, who refers to himself as the ""Martha Stewart of youth culture,"" certainly targets his audience: he explains how to cook with an iron or on the manifold of a car; how to use a helmet as a bowl for chips; and how to turn a surfboard into a dining table, and how to burp properly. In the same pages, however, he also offers instructions on chopstick etiquette, proper table settings (including information on such arcane instruments as a bone marrow spoon), and the do's and don'ts of fondue. Featured throughout are more than 50 recipes from extreme athletes-some horrific (French toast with Ketchup from snowboarder Shaun Palmer), others less so (Mediterranean Risotto from skier Jimbo Morgan).
