Dick Clark. Dodd Mead, $0 (152pp) ISBN 978-0-396-08525-6

Whether your interests lie in television and music or in grooming, it's nonetheless surprising to find this book, which reveals the author's success in looking good. Clark, best known as host of the television show American Bandstand, is in his mid-50s but still has the boyish good looks that became his trademark. How he maintains his pleasing appearance and keeps fit is breezily summed up in this volume, which he calls a reminder of the basics for the already knowledgeable man. Clark covers the general rubrics of groominghe cautions against dressing so as to stand out in a crowdand discusses such details as hair shampoos and sprays, and razor blades. Simple exercises and healthful recipes (just three) are included, too. Clark's advice is easygoing, as promised by the title; common sense and restraint seem to be the ticket. This guide for guys doesn't offer much that is original, but it does go down as easily as chocolate milk. Illustrations. (June)
