Richard Levinson. Plume Books, $8.95 (279pp) ISBN 978-0-452-25873-0

As a follow-up to Stay Tuned, the memoir of their television career, the award-winning writer-producer team of Levinson and Link (Colombo, Murder She Wrote illuminates aspects of network entertainment through interviews with some of the industry's big guns: NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff, Cosby Show director Jay Sandrich, independent supplier Aaron Spelling, actress Angela Lansbury, and the writers and producers who helped create Family Ties, Hill Street Blues and Cagney and Lacey. Unfortunately, much of the material is bland, monotonous and self-serving. More interesting are the prime-time TV makers' stories of backgrounds and entries into the field, as well as some particulars on how they view their craft. (October)
