Love Awaits: African-American Woman Talk

Statistics show that today 56% of black households in America are headed by single women, and, according to Long, these women are often angry at their ``brothers'' for ``dissing'' (disrespecting) them. Why is there so much tension between African American men and women? Can a black woman attain a fulfilling relationship with one of her Brothers? Here, 26 black women from various walks of life, interviewed by the author, a filmmaker, answer these questions in their own candid, and sometimes profane, words. From medical student Sheryl to teenage mother Nikki, Long conveys a visceral love-hate bond that African American women feel toward black men, and men in general; their views about their own sexuality; and their outlook on life.
