Demon Hunting in Dixie

Lexi George. Kensington/Brava, $14 trade paper (384p) ISBN 978-0-7582-6309-4

George's rip-snorting Southern-fried paranormal debut delivers hilarious one-liners, sexy alpha males, and plenty of mayhem. Addy Corwin's mostly normal smalltown life becomes decidedly bizarre when a nasty demon marks her as his and a "wet dream on steroids" of a demon hunter materializes from nowhere to save her. Her dog starts talking, fairies are real, and some townsfolk turn out to be more than human. Demon hunter Brand and florist Addy share instant sparks and outstanding sex, and their relationship builds with believable passion as they get through the usual misunderstandings. Multiple subplots and long-winded Southern scene settings detract from the main story's flow, and setups for sequels could have been handled in fewer pages, but George is a natural storyteller who offers a genuinely funny new voice in paranormal romance.
