Jenny's Prayer

Griessman teaches children a tangible lesson about how God answers prayers in this touching book. When Jenny and her mother visit a pet store, she falls in love with a white kitten and asks her parents if she can have it. But neither one is listening to her. She prays to God, asking for his help, and promises she will take good care of the kitten. When she returns to the pet store the next day and discovers the kitten has been sold, she believes that even God hasn't listened to her. Later that day, as Jenny sulks under a tree, a small stray cat climbs into her lap. Lard's soft, impressionistic watercolors capture Jenny's anger, sadness and joy as she realizes God has been listening after all. Ages 3-7. (Dec.)
