Babes in Toyland

In another edition of the Victor Herbert/Glen Macdonough operetta, Bluth presents a slightly different adapatation than Howe's (reviewed above); he concentrates on the lost children in the forest and their encounter with the fairies, and the giant toy soldiers' ultimate rescue of Toyland. But it's a saccharine telling, with none of the verve and heroism of the operetta. The magic of the fairies in this one can't rescue it from blandness.
