Amy Stark. Pharos Books, $19.95 (243pp) ISBN 978-0-88687-650-0

An easy-to-understand, no-frills strategy for achieving good interpersonal relations in the workplace. Psychologist Stark takes readers through various family scenarios that, in her view, affect on-the-job behavior. Although a bit arid`dry' two reviews previous , this section clearly demonstrates that parents' attitudes toward employment, money, anger and discipline powerfully determine how their children will act at work when adultsto avoid codependent jargon of `adult children' . The author excels when explaining how to develop personal power at the office and, congruently, how to handle anger. Her basic premise, that people always imitate their parents' behavior, is oversimplified--conduct can also be motivated by the desire not to be like a mother or father--but the book contains much that will help readers improve their job performance.
