One Evening

This small companion book to these creators' recent One Morning appears to be a simple story of a man's journey home through a winter snowstormbut its minimalist spareness is full of associations, moods and feelings. A series of carefully rendered scenes is held together by short phrases or a single word on each page, such as ``street corner,'' ``music'' and the closing words ``winter night.'' The reader follows the man as he walks through the falling snow``whish whish whish''beneath streetlights that cast a yellow glow. Once home he enjoys a glass of red wine, a warm fire and the company of a playful cat. What the pictures lack in detail readers can fill in, making this a meditative interpretation of everyday acts.
