Silver Berries and Christmas Magic

Feminism has reached the North Pole, in the form of Tiemma Claus, an earth-mother cum good witch, who is married to Santa in this unbearably long picture-book fantasy. It seems Tiemma's magic, and the silver berries containing the ""magic of children,"" produce the wind beneath Santa's reindeer and sleigh. Morris rises to the odd occasion, depicting dancing cookies, glowing berries, snow fairies and a conventionally comely if gray-haired Mrs. Claus. Ages 4-9. (Oct.)
