Falling for Gracie

Susan Mallery, read by Savannah Richards. Brilliance Audio, unabridged, nine CDs, 10 hrs., $19.99 ISBN 978-1-4418-7606-5

After many years away, Gracie comes home, embarrassed to find the town folk still fondly remember the scandalous way she, at age 15, threw herself at Riley, a high school senior now running for mayor. Rile and Gracie meet again, and their mutual attraction this time garners more local media attention. But someone is trying to discredit Riley, and he and Gracie scramble to win the community's favor before election day. The light contemporary romance is complemented by the reader, Savannah Richards. She sounds like a young woman, and she maintains a tempo suiting the protagonist, who is a confident, efficient, and independent business owner, but has youthful personal fears and inadequacies that show through. She also finds an appropriate voice for the story's easygoing hero, making him sound capable and appealing. Easy, delightful listening. A Harlequin paperback. (Feb.)
