Jesus Among Secular Gods: The Countercultural Claims of Christ

Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale. FaithWords, $24 (256p) ISBN 978-1-4555-6915-1

In this engrossing and enlightening work, Zacharias and Vitale deliver a spirited defense of the Christian faith in the face of what they view as adamant opposition from every quarter. Taking on famous skeptics such as Richard Dawkins, the authors present rational and convincing arguments for faith in a world filled with doubt. Looking at such ideologies as atheism, hedonism, humanism, and relativism, they deftly and honestly define each of these viewpoints and then show how divinity can pierce the veil of questioning and deliver a certain answer that satisfies the quest for a rational, believable faith. The necessity for divine intervention is summed up nicely when Vitale affirms that “only a God who reveals Himself can save us from arrogance about the most important questions of life.” Absent this revelation, the authors insist, seekers must depend on their own abilities to sort through the confusions of life; only God can bring clarity. This is a wonderful collection of essays, worthy of wide readership. [em]Agent: Robert Wolgemuth, Wolgemuth & Associates. (Jan.) [/em]
