Reflecting Morrison's views on how to improve business practices, her third book offers advice possibly more helpful than Breaking the Glass Ceiling (about striving female professionals) and The Lessons of Experience (about successful executives). Here she concentrates on persuading management to promote and reward ``people of color'' and women, who are usually overlooked because of ethnic backgrounds or gender. Morrison spells out the benefits of leadership diversity to managers and employees, giving examples of working relationships, quoting interviews with leaders and persons moving up the corporate and/or government ladder and supplying statistics in an extensive text. As director of a study group at the Center for Creative Leadership in La Jolla, Calif., the author bases her guidelines on the organization's research. (Sept.)
