A tongue-in-cheek tone runs throughout: in “H is for hipster,” readers can “pull together a hipster outfit” by adding patterns to sun hats, skirts, boots, and jeans; on the G spread, Poluchowicz notes that the Gowanus Canal is “famous for being highly polluted (not to mention stinky).” The Coney Island Cyclone, water towers, and yarmulkes (“New York City has the largest Jewish population in the world outside Israel”) also get their due in a loving homage to and light overview of the wildly diverse borough.
