Undercover Sex Signals: A Pickup Guide for Guys

Leil Lowndes, , read by the author. . Listen & Live Audio, $23.95 (0pp) ISBN 978-1-59316-112-5

Guys are completely oblivious to the myriad hints and subtle indications of women who are dying to sleep with them, says Lowndes, who gives the lowdown on how guys can better execute their game by recognizing 26 different signals that women use to indicate potential sexual desire. Lowndes's underlying premise is that all women are desperately trying to get men's attentions whenever in public, but she really sticks to bars and clubs for her examples. Lowndes's writing style and voice do not help this audiobook. Her raspy and deep voice brings images of an older, cigarette-smoking woman, which is not a bad thing, but not particularly convincing to the audience (men who need to be convinced attractive women want them). While cheesy punch lines and excessive hyperbole may work well within the printed text, on audio these lines fall short and evoke eye rolls. A professional narrator might have overcome these inhibitors, but Lowndes's tone evokes the faux enthusiasm often encountered with salespeople. A Citadel Press paperback. (Oct.)
