Arend follows Black Gold with another passionate paranormal romance set in the Canadian wilderness. Chase, a reclusive shifter who unpredictably alternates between wolf and cougar forms, is the unofficial alpha for the shifters of the Keno bush region. During his yearly trip to Whitehorse for supplies, he meets Shelley, a wolf-blooded shifter incapable of transformation, whose veterinary training makes her the perfect doctor for the local pack. The attraction is immediate and the sexual tension off the charts, and when Shelley accompanies Chase back into the bush, they give in to their mutual desires. However, a deadly disease racing through the shifter population may put a damper on the blossoming relationship, especially when Chase is affected. There’s a real chemistry between the characters, laced with humor and snappy dialogue, and no shortage of steamy sex scenes to keep things lively. The result is an entertaining, spicy romance.
