Un Paseo Por El Parque - Anacleto El Esqueleto Inquieto

The action in both books takes place at night (depicted as a pitch-black background with a bright yellow moon) and the protagonist does live in a house made of bones, but nothing frightening happens in the stories. In Un paseo por el parque (A Walk in the Park) Anacleto enjoys his amble until a sudden spill scatters his bones. He tries to reassemble himself many times, resulting in some comic combinations of bones and joints. By the time he gets himself straightened out, the sun is rising and it's time to get home. In Una noche de insomnia (A Sleepless Night), he can't get to sleep so he counts sheep (little skeleton sheep, that is) and finally drifts off. Their job done, the sheep return to their home on the moon. The bold illustrations are done in strong, dark colors against a black background. Although the characters are friendly and approachable, this book may appeal more to some youngsters than others. Recommended for larger collections in bookstores and libraries. M.O.B.
