How to Get Him Back from the Other Woman: If You Still Want Him
Diane Baroni. St. Martin's Press, $18.95 (232pp) ISBN 978-0-312-08210-9
Most men will cheat on their wives, warn Cosmopolitan editors Kelly and Baroni, but women may rest assured that 75% to 85% of straying husbands will ultimately return. To that end, they offer a nine-step plan for wives interested in ``getting him back.'' Though a woman may feel nearly murderous or suicidal upon learning of her husband's affair, they state, she must hide these emotions and make herself as irresistible to him as if they had just met. She must not show jealousy, grief or fear, and she should present herself as an interesting, independent woman, no matter how helpless she feels. Confrontation with the ``Other Woman'' might even be necessary. The book does not address the cases of husbands whose ``flings'' are more than casual, who may in fact no longer love their wives. Instead of helping women express their feelings honestly and deal with the real issues couples need to face together, the authors present a rosy, simplistic, ``surefire'' formula that avoids frank communication.
