It's a Miracle 2: More Inspiring True Stories Based on the Pax TV Series, ""It's a Miracle""
. Delta, $10.95 (240pp) ISBN 978-0-385-33651-2
""A miracle is always happening somewhere,"" says Thomas, and here the host of the titular PAX TV series collects almost 40 of the best examples from the show. With a structure similar to the ever-popular Chicken Soup books--the stories are separated into thematic sections, including Extraordinary Rescues, Compassionate Creatures and Overcoming the Odds--this volume reveals the human and animal world at its best. A boy and a girl who first met across the boundary of a concentration camp fence find each other in America 12 years later and marry; a blind girl's sight is suddenly and inexplicably restored; a brave Springer spaniel bites an intruder and gets shots five times and lives; and a mother's belief that secretin, an intestinal hormone, helped her autistic son connect and communicate leads to important studies about the hormone's potential benefits. While the prose is clunky, and sometimes leans into melodrama--not every story here feels like a miracle--fans of the show will appreciate the chance to rediscover their favorite episodes.
