Foolish Heart
Felicia Mason. Pinnacle Books, $4.99 (256pp) ISBN 978-0-7860-0593-2
For 20 years, Sonja Pride has waited for the chance to exact revenge for her family's humiliation by the Heart family. It seems she has the perfect opportunity when CEO Coleman Heart--who despite his success has been known to give little back to the African American community--unwittingly hires Sonja's company to do market research on his chain of department stores in Williamsburg, Va. At first, Sonja is overwhelmed by Coleman's arrogance and single-mindedness, but both soon realize they have met their match. Predictably, Sonja's rage against Coleman softens, and before long they succumb to their sexual desires, all the while struggling to save the floundering stores from bankruptcy. Readers will enjoy Mason's (Rhapsody) compelling characters and the ease of their dialogue, even though the romance ends too easily on a happy note. (Dec.)
