Humphrey, the Wrong Way Whale
Kathryn Allen Goldner. Dillon Press, $11.95 (127pp) ISBN 978-0-87518-360-2
Part of the Ocean World Library, this book gives readers a whale's eye view of just what happened to Humphrey, who made headlines in 1985 when he swam into San Francisco Bay. But only 20 pages of this approximately 125-page book are devoted to the real Humphrey. The rest of the book is general information about humpback whales, imparted in discussions of how Humphrey may have been born and how he might have grown up. The format will blur, for younger readers, the line between fact and fiction. Ages 9-up. (July)
