A Matter of Will

A chance encounter at a hockey game with wealthy businessman Sam Abaddon comes just in time for 27-year-old wealth manager Will Matthews, the protagonist of this engrossing thriller from Mitzner (Dead Certain). Will is about to lose his job at Maeve Grant, a prestigious Manhattan brokerage firm, because of his failure to recruit clients. Sam serendipitously furnishes Will with $18 million to invest, allowing him to retain his position and move higher in Maeve Grant’s ranks. In addition, Sam introduces Will to friends willing to invest with him. Meanwhile, Will meets prominent attorney Gwen Lipton on an internet dating site. Gwen is on a trial defending a Hollywood director accused of murdering his wife. As Will’s lifestyle becomes increasingly lavish and his relationship with Gwen more fulfilling, life couldn’t get any better. Then Will witnesses a murder, which, if discovered, could have serious repercussions for him, and he soon learns that there’s a high price to be paid for his good fortune.
