Ghosts, love, and rock %E2%80%98n' roll battle for supremacy in Glover's uneven debut. For years, guitarist Andrew Hayes has been looking for his muse, the woman who's haunted him ever since he was a boy. He finally finds her in San Francisco in the form of Emily Thomas, who is just as intensely drawn to Andrew as he is to her. The two end up living in the same house, which is also home to a pair of ghostly lovers who are cursed to perpetually search for one another in the old Victorian. As Andrew and Emily investigate and try to reunite the ghosts, they realize their love is part of a deadly pattern that seems to be repeating itself. Glover weaves an entertaining mystery as Andrew and Emily follow a series of clues to try to aid the ghosts. However, a preponderance of hard-to-believe coincidences and the characters' obsessive, fickle emotions will leave readers feeling as if this particular refrain has gone on far too long. (Feb.)
