Jeanie Guman, sales director at Disney Book Group, died on November 12 from complications due to a long struggle with leukemia. Guman joined Disney in fall 2006 and oversaw sales efforts with the company’s distribution partners as well as overall book sales in Canada. Prior to Disney, Jeanie spent 10 years at DK, where she was director of national accounts. Before that she worked as a sales rep at Houghton Mifflin and as the Houghton Mifflin liaison to DK.

“Jeanie was an amazing person to work with,” says Simon Tasker, v-p of retail sales for Disney Publishing Worldwide. “Her experience, knowledge and complete professionalism made her invaluable in driving and growing our business. But more important than that was her humanity. She was a thoughtful and incredibly caring person.” Tom Korman, v-p of sales at DK, said, “She embraced all who came in touch with her – from colleagues to customers. All of us will remember Jeanie’s humor and loyalty as we mourn her passing.”
