Rather than crisscrossing the country, Jeff Kinney’s previous book tours have focused on specific regions: East Coast readers from New Jersey to Florida met Kinney on tour for his sixth Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, Cabin Fever, and the author toured Southern states including Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee for The Ugly Truth. With book seven, The Third Wheel, Midwesterners will get a chance to see Kinney in person.

Starting on Tuesday, November 13, the book’s release date, Kinney will embark on a seven-city, seven-day tour that will take him from Kansas City, Mo., to Grand Rapids, Mich., with stops in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Detroit. “Over the past five years, the support for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series from booksellers large and small has been tremendous,” said Kinney in a statement. “It’s my goal to visit as many stores as possible in order to express my thanks, and to meet as many fans as I can along the way.”

Kinney’s larger events—including those at Rainy Day Books in Kansas City, Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Ill., and Joseph-Beth in Cincinnati—will feature a Wimpy Kid Rolling Party, including a DJ and dance floor. Kinney will also appear at smaller “meet and greet” events with other area booksellers.

Readers who can’t make it to any of the events on Kinney’s tour have another chance to see Greg Heffley, though: for the third year, a giant balloon of the Wimpy Kid will be visible on televisions nationwide during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
