Hitting bookshelves next week is a wide array of books for all ages, including a heavy-hitting YA novel, an anthology featuring big authors on one theme, and the first picture book pairing of two popular authors.

The Great War: Stories Inspired by Items from the First World War, David Almond, John Boyne, Tracy Chevalier et al., illus. by Jim Kay. Candlewick, $19.99; ISBN 978-0-7636-7554-7. A lineup of 11 notable authors, each writing a short story about a different aspect of WWI, has netted this book (which also includes illustrations, historical photographs, and back matter) a starred review from PW.

The Skunk, Mac Barnett, illus. by Patrick McDonnell. Roaring Brook, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-59643-966-5. Pairing up Barnett and McDonnell for their first collaboration, their book has netted a PW star and features a protagonist followed by a skunk (and some existential dread).

Bunny Roo, I Love You, Melissa Marr, illus. by Teagan White. Penguin/Paulsen, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-399-16742-3. The first picture book from Wicked Lovely author Melissa Marr features a mother whose baby pretends to be different animals, with watercolor illustrations by Teagan White.

Tiger Boy, Mitali Perkins, illus. by Jamie Hogan. Charlesbridge, $14.95; ISBN 978-1-58089-660-3. Perkins has made a name for herself writing across nations, and in her latest middle grade novel, a boy tries to help a tiger cub lost from a Bangladesh nature reserve.

All the Rage by Courtney Summers. St. Martin’s Griffin, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-250-02191-5. The latest from the author of This Is Not a Test is a psychological thriller set in a small town in which a girl is ostracized after accusing the sheriff’s son of rape; PW gave the book a star.
