My Diary from the Edge of the World by Jodi Lynn Anderson. S&S/Aladdin, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-4424-8387-3. Anderson’s (Tiger Lily) new novel, told in the format of protagonist 12-year-old Gracie’s diary, follows the girl and her family as they travel away from their supernaturally infused landscape in Maine to a fabled land where spirits supposedly don’t exist.

The Turnip by Jan Brett. Putnam, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-17070-6. Brett follows Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella with another trip to Mother Russia, where a badger family has discovered a huge turnip growing in their garden.

Is Mommy? by Victoria Chang, illus. by Marla Frazee. S&S/Beach Lane, $15.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-0292-7. Poet Chang (The Boss) makes her children’s debut with a dialogue between children and an unseen narrator, illustrated by Frazee (The Farmer and the Clown).

Need by Joelle Charbonneau. Houghton Mifflin, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-544-41669-7. The mysterious Need network, an anonymous social network that springs up overnight, claims that it can fulfill the deepest desires of high school students, from the author of the Testing trilogy.

Traffick by Ellen Hopkins. S&S/McElderry, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-4424-8287-6. The latest YA novel from Hopkins is told from the perspective of five teens affected by sex trafficking.

Warriors Super Edition: Moth Flight’s Vision by Erin Hunter, illus. by James L. Barry. HarperCollins, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-06-229147-9. This standalone is set after the events of the Dawn of the Clans prequel series.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School by Jeff Kinney. Abrams/Amulet, $13.95; ISBN 978-1-4197-1701-7. In the 10th installment of the bestselling series, Greg’s town goes “old school” when it voluntarily eschews electronics.

Fast Break by Mike Lupica. Philomel, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-25606-6. Lupica offers up a middle-grade novel that follows foster kid Jayson, who finds respite from his difficult life in playing basketball.

The After-Room by Maile Meloy, illus. by Ian Schoenherr. Putnam, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-17544-2. The finale to the Apothecary trilogy finds protagonists Benjamin and Janie trying to live a normal life, until they’re intruded upon by danger and magic.

The Goodbye Book by Todd Parr. Little, Brown/Tingley, $17; ISBN 978-0-316-40497-6. With this deceptively simple look at coping with loss, featuring a fish in a fishbowl whose companion disappears, Parr adds to the list of universal issues he has explored, including family, thankfulness, love, the environment, and peace.
