The Classy Crooks Club by Alison Cherry. S&S/Aladdin, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-4637-2. 12-year-old AJ discovers that her grandmother’s bridge club is actually a small-time heist club – and its members need her help. The more AJ gets involved with the ladies’ questionable pastime, the more their demands grow, as do her concerns about their activities.

Posy the Puppy (Dr. Kittycat #1) by Jane Clarke. Scholastic, $4.99; ISBN 978-0-545-87333-8. Beatrix Potter meets Grey’s Anatomy as a feline medic tends to animals’ scraped ears, hurt ankles, and other bumps and bruises in this series opener.

Summerlost by Ally Condie. Dutton, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-18719-3. This coming-of-age story – about 12-year-old Cedar Lee, who has moved for the summer with her mother and younger brother, Miles, as the family struggles to regroup after an accident claimed the lives of Cedar’s father and brother Ben – earned a starred review from PW. The Great American Whatever by Tim Federle. Simon & Schuster, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-0409-9. Federle’s first foray into YA follows the story of 16-year-old Quinn, reeling from his sister’s death and exploring his first crush on a boy. Read our Q & A with Federle here.

Hector and Hummingbird by Nicholas John Frith. Scholastic/Levine, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-545-85701-7. This debut picture book follows odd couple friends Hector the bear and Hummingbird. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Half Lost by Sally Green. Viking, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-670-01714-0. The conclusion of Green’s bestselling Half Bad trilogy earned a starred review from PW.

Walk the Edge (Thunder Road #2) by Katie McGarry. Harlequin Teen, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-373-21162-3. McGarry’s Thunder Road YA series continues with the story of 17-year-old responsible girl Breanna’s involvement with a motorcycle gang.

You Can Do It, Stinky Face! by Lisa McCourt, illus. by Cyd Moore. Cartwheel Books, $6.99; ISBN 978-0-545-80648-0. A picture book about a child struggling with confidence, and his mother’s words of encouragement.

The Final Kingdom (Tombquest #5) by Michael Northrop. Scholastic Press, $12.99; ISBN 978-0-545-72342-8. This volume concludes Alex and Ren’s middle grade adventure quest.
