Gale, part of Cengage Learning, has launched of a new multimedia resource in its National Geographic Virtual Library (NGVL) series, its third installment. The newly launched National Geographic: People, Animals, and the World, joins National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1888-1994 and the National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1995-Current.

Gale officials say National Geographic: People, Animals, and the World, includes a range of multimedia offerings, including full-text books on travel, science & technology, history, the environment and animals; videos covering such topics as the Islamic world, alternative energy and even the lifestyle of beluga whales; more than 650 maps; 600 downloadable National Geographic images; and the National Geographic Traveler magazine from 2010 – present. Offered on Gale’s research platform, all the NGVL offerings cross-searchable, enabling seamless search access for subscribing institutions. Additional NGVL products will also be available in early spring 2013
