In an e-mail sent over the weekend, Amazon alerted its Kindle customers that they are entitled to e-book credits as a result of the recently settled Department of Justice lawsuit filed against publishers and Apple. In the e-mail, which opens with the sentence "We have good news," Amazon said that customers will not need do anything to receive their credits, which will range between $0.30 and $1.32 on every title covered under the lawsuit, and purchased between April 2010 and May 2012.

Amazon closed the e-mail noting that, along with the credits, the settlements are "a big win for customers and look forward to lowering prices on more Kindle books in the future."
