The Guggenheim-Lehrman Prize in Military History has been created by the he Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. The prize, which carries an award of $50,000, will be given annually in recognition of the best book in the field of military history published in English during the previous calendar year. The inaugural award will be made in February 2014 for a book published in 2013.

The winner of the prize will be selected in January 2014 from a short list of six finalists and then announced at an event at the New-York Historical Society.
