The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art has announced the recipients of the 2015 Carle Honors.
Helen Oxenbury was named Artist Honoree; she has previously received the Kate Greenaway Medal, Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, and many other honors. Among the many books she has illustrated: We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen, Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell, and Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Neal Porter was named the Mentor Honoree. Porter has been publisher of his own imprint at Roaring Brook Press for the last 14 years, and in the words of the Carle committee, “has acted as a champion of award-winning authors and illustrators for over 35 years.”
Joan Bertin was named the Bridge Honoree. She is the executive director of the National Coalition Against Censorship and has “long advocated free thought, inquiry and expression.”
The Cotsen Children's Library at Princeton University was chosen as the Angel Honoree; representing the library will be Corinna Cotsen and Andrea Immel. The library houses an international research collection and acts as a public resource of illustrated children's books, manuscripts, original artwork, prints, and educational toys dating back to the 15th century.
