The winners for the Best Children’s Publisher of the Year – with winners selected in five regional categories – were announced in Sala Borsa in Bologna Monday, March 30, at the end of the opening day of the 52nd Bologna Children’s Book Fair. The award was established by the Children’s Book Fair together with the Italian Publishers’ Association to acknowledge publishers “that have excelled in terms of creativity and the quality of their editorial choices over the last year,” the committee said in a release. The prize is awarded to six publishers from the six areas of the world.

The winners for each region are:

Africa: Editions Donniya, based in Bamako, Mali.

Asia: 21st Century Publishing H., based in Jiangxi, China.

South America: Pequeno Editor, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Europe: Libros del Zorro Rojo, based in Barcelona, Spain.

North America: Enchanted Lion Books, based in Brooklyn, United States.

And for Oceania, Allen & Unwin, based in Crows Nest, Australia.

The winners are selected by the publishing houses participating in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, on the basis of nominations made by international publishers' associations, cultural institutions representing book publishers worldwide, and publishers themselves. The aim is to highlight quality publishing on an international scale.
