The fall season is kicking in to high gear. I’ve been traveling, most recently down to Nashville for a meeting with religious publishers, and I plan to be in United Arab Emirates for the Sharjah World Book Fair in mid November. In two weeks I’ll be in Frankfurt, and I hope to see you there. Please contact me if you’d like to meet. Or stop by Publishers Weekly in Hall 08, booth R35 to say hello.

Publishers Weekly has some exciting news. An all-new issue of Children’s Starred Reviews is set to hit subscriber mailboxes and inboxes as well as newsstands on November 12th, 2013. This compilation of the year’s best children’s books was conceived as a buyer’s guide to the best of the best in children’s and YA titles. New feature stories and author interviews will round out the issue.

Promotions for this special children’s issue include a Twitter and social media effort; a publicity push to the consumer media; and long-life stand-alone newsstand and bookstore placements. This review-packed issue is sure to be a winner with librarians, booksellers, parents, educators and book buyers of all stripes. Reservations deadline is October 15, 2013.

PW’s Best Books of the Year is probably the most eagerly anticipated issue of the year—for members of the media, book buyers, librarians, booksellers and others who rely on Publishers Weekly to provide the first Top 100 best books of the year, across categories. PW’s Best Books issue comes out before anyone else’s “best of” lists, too, allowing booksellers in particular to get a jump on ordering. And if there’s any doubt about the popularity of this issue, look no further than the “Most Popular” articles on the PW Web site—best books top the lists throughout the year. Bonus newsstand distribution of this issue is 4,500 copies. Reservations deadline is October 28, 2013.

Before I forget, it’s not too late to promote your holiday gift books in Publishers Weekly. The deadline is today, September 30, 2013, for Sports Books for the Holidays and October 11th for Illustrated Gift Books. Better yet, bundle your buy and magnify your message with print plus banner ads to reach 750,000 monthly PW site visitors.

Last but not least, there will be a 4,000 bonus distribution of the PW Spanish-language Supplement, now slated for October 9th, at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, which runs November 30 - December 4, 2013 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Reservations deadline is October 9th, a great way to reach not only the U.S. market for Spanish-language books, but also the burgeoning Latin America market.

Call me at 212-377-5703 or e-mail me today, and I will make sure your advertising is included in these important issues of PW.
