Unit sales of print books rose 5% in the week ended Aug. 16, 2015, compared to the similar week last year, at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. The juvenile nonfiction category had the largest increase in the week, with units up 20%. Johanna Basford’s two coloring books, Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, ran one-two on the juvenile nonfiction list for the second consecutive week, selling a combined 36,500 copies. Coloring books played a key role in raising sales 9% in adult nonfiction in week 33 of 2015. Creative Cats Coloring Book by Marjorie Sarnat sold more than 8,000 copies in the week, putting it in 11th place on the adult nonfiction list—one ahead of Color Me Calm by Lacy Mucklow and Angela Porter, which sold more than 7,900 copies in its first week on sale. Another coloring book debut, Fantastic Cities: A Coloring Book by Steve McDonald, sold about 7,100 copies, putting it in 19th place. The highest-ranking debut was Cooks Country Eats Local, which sold more than 13,000 copies. Units in adult fiction increased 3% in the week, as Go Set a Watchman and Grey ran one-two on the adult fiction list for the second week in a row, though sales for both were down compared to the previous week. Silver Linings by Debbie Macomber had the strongest debut in the week, landing at #6, selling just under 20,000 copies. With the four top sellers in the juvenile fiction segment experiencing declines from the previous week, sales in the segment fell 4%.
