Unit sales of print books rose 1% in the week ended Nov. 1, 2015, compared to the similar week last year, at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. The adult nonfiction category had the strongest performance, with units up 11%. The increase was led by the newest adult coloring book by Johanna Basford: Lost Ocean sold almost 56,000 copies in its first week, making it the top seller in the adult nonfiction segment. Government Zero by Michael Savage—another new book—landed in fourth place, selling more than 25,000 copies. Basford’s earlier adult coloring books, which the publisher classified as juvenile nonfiction, took the two top spots on that category’s bestsellers list, with Enchanted Forest selling more than 16,000 copies and Secret Garden selling more than 15,000 copies. Total unit sales in juvenile nonfiction rose 7% in the week. Sales fell 9% in the adult fiction category to just over 71,000 copies, and John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer remained the #1 adult fiction bestseller. Patricia Cornwell’s Depraved Heart had the best debut in the category, landing in third place with more than 21,000 copies sold. The juvenile fiction category had a new top seller in the week, but units still fell 3% compared to the similar week last year. Rush Revere and the Star-Spangled Banner by Rush Limbaugh sold more than 47,000 copies in its first week.
