New Leaf CEO Alim Thompson will be leaving the company he founded in 1975 to pursue a new business in the heath and wellness industry at the end of March. Effective March 1, company president Irv Myers, former executive v-p of Waldenbooks and of National Book Network, will add the title of CEO. He has handled operations and finance at the Atlanta-based specialty wholesaler and distributor for the past three years.

At the same time industry veteran Steven Wallace, who was with Random House for 18 years and Unbridled Book for six, has been named v-p for business development. He will be responsible for maximizing sell through, acquiring new distribution clients, and developing new markets.

“I could not feel any better about the position in which I am leaving New Leaf,” said Thompson. “Irv’s strategic decisions and adroit handling of day-to-day operations has kept New Leaf viable and profitable through these very difficult times.” He continued to say that New Leaf would remain committed to serving its niche market of spirituality and holistic health through its wholesaling channel. But in order to grow, the company must move in new directions.

Starting April 1, Thompson can be reached at 404.642.4728.
