In the latest example of a publisher going direct to readers, Random House will host a day-long event at its New York City headquarters that it hopes will attract 200 or so readers who are interested in meeting with Random authors and talking publishing with Random executives. Set for November 2, WORD Books will be on hand to sell RH books and authors will sign copies of their titles.

Dubbed Open House, the day will feature panel discussions with RH executives, plus panels and interviews with such RH authors as Marcus Samuelsson, Anna Quindlen and Kurt Andersen. RH will be giving some promotional copies plus "lots of swag." Tickets are $25 and RH has partnered with Huffington Post for the event.
