CIA director and four-star general David Petraeus resigned Friday after admitting he had an affair with a woman who has been identified as Paula Broadwell, author of All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, published in January by The Penguin Press. In our review of the book, which she wrote with Vernon Loeb, PW called All In “an authoritative and engrossing look at General David Petraeus,” helped by her having “unique access to Petraeus, his staff and colleagues.”

According to the review, Broadwell is a West Point graduate, veteran, and counterterrorism policy expert who first met Petraeus in 2006 as a graduate student and later conducted a case study in Petraeus' leadership which became a thesis for her University of London Ph.D. in public policy and All In.

Since its release, All In as sold over 22,000 copies at outlets tracked by Nielsen BookScan. As of November 12, three days after Petraeus's resignation, the book is #159 on Amazon and is backordered.
