Perseus Sale Completed
The sale of Perseus Books Group’s publishing and distribution businesses, which were bought by Hachette Book Group and Ingram Content Group, respectively, was completed last week. HBG will run the nine Perseus imprints it acquired under the Perseus Books division, which is overseen by Susan Weinberg. Ingram added four Perseus distribution divisions, plus its Constellation asset-management-services unit. Ingram will now handle distribution for about 600 independent publishers.
Partners Book Distributing Closes
Partners Book Distributing stopped shipping orders on April 1. As a single company that operated as two separate regional wholesalers (Partners/East in Holt, Mich., and Partners/West in Renton, Wash.), Partners served as a key wholesaler in the West and Midwest. Partners also offered distribution to small presses. In a statement announcing the closure, Partners wrote simply, “As much as we love what we do, the numbers are no longer working.”
