If you’ve read about religion lately, you’re sure to have run across some mention of the “nones”—the growing number of Americans who claim no religious affiliation. PW covered the effects of the trend on religion publishing last month, and coming soon is our article on how atheists--a subset of the unaffliated--are demanding a place at the table, and on bookstore shelves. I’m sure some traditionally religious publishers are troubled, but the ones we’ve talked to plan to tackle the new challenges with enthusiasm and creativity as they publish to a new generation. The widely differing points of view only add to a lively conversation about faith that plays out in books.
