Description | Under the supervision of the Manager, Collection Development Services, the incumbent serves as a collection development librarian, project manager, and materials specialist in the Collection Development department. The position requires management of external and internal customer work using diverse resources and technology and requiring independent decision making and actions. The incumbent will participate as a team member, perform all functions and activities of assigned duties and daily operations, and establish goals and priorities for the position within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the Company mission, vision and goals. More specifically, the incumbent will provide consulting services, manage external and internal projects, track project budgets, select appropriate materials and resources, prepare bibliographies, participate in product and service development, and effectively demonstrate special knowledge and expertise in order to meet identified customer needs, support the Company Strategic Plan, and increase the Company market share. To be successful, the incumbent must keep abreast of external and internal customer needs, trends in the field of librarianship, and developments in the publishing industry. Toward that end, the position includes the opportunity to attend professional meetings, conferences, and workshops, and make presentations on behalf of the Company. A Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited Library Science Degree program; two years public library experience or relevant experience in related field; specialized coursework in or demonstrated knowledge of collection development and management, selection of materials, and acquisitions is required.
