Supervising 28 professionals, the Director oversees all planning, fiscal, editorial, production, marketing, sales, and fundraising activities of UH Press. The Director must be an innovative leader and communicator with a thorough understanding of the diverse challenges facing scholarly communications today—challenges that involve not only academic publishers, but also libraries, universities, scholars, and booksellers. In addition to supervising day-to-day operations and activities, the Director will be expected to advance UH Press’ development of electronic publishing, foster and enhance financial support from foundations and other sources, and work with University faculty and administrators to further the Press’ role in expanding the University’s academic objectives and reputation. UH Mānoa is one of the premier institutions of higher learning in the Pacific and belongs to an international community of research universities. It is the flagship campus of the UH System and enrolls more than 20,000 students. UH Mānoa is one of the nation’s few land-, sea-, and space-grant institutions, and plays a vital role in serving Hawaiian, Asian, and Pacific communities through education, research, outreach, and service.
