POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Education Resources Adviser

Type: Part-time employee (a schedule of approximately 19 hours a week)
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension
Salary: Based on experience and education
The Council on Foreign Relations produces a wide variety of open source print and online resources of interest to the academic community in traditional foreign relations and international affairs fields, as well as less traditional fields such as law, business, and public health. The Adviser will assess the suitability of CFR resources for use in a variety of online and traditional campus educational environments (for both educators and students), as well as identify new audiences to distribute our resources to and the channels for reaching them. The Adviser will report to the vice president of the National Program & Outreach and the editor of CFR.org.
The responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
In close association with the vice president, editor, and their staffs, the adviser will:
• Develop criteria for measuring the effectiveness of CFR’s education outreach
• Assess the effectiveness of CFR’s current education outreach to be used as a baseline going forward
• Identify outlets for marketing and maximizing distribution of CFR resources
• Develop a marketing plan for reaching these outlets to raise awareness of CFR and the free resources it offers
• Advise on development of current and future online digital products to better target educational audiences
Qualifications:
• Four or more years of professional experience in placement or marketing of educational materials for college level
• Master’s Degree in a field related to educational publishing
• Experience in the strategic development of digital educational products
• Proven experience in increasing product distribution
• Strong knowledge of the educational industry and academic journals, publications, and websites
• Strong understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other technological platforms through which the online world is accessed
• Experience with web analytics strongly preferred
• Familiarity with the public and nonprofit sectors as well as familiarity with policy-related think tanks preferred
• Knowledge of current foreign policy issues
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and on a team
• Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills
• Multi-tasking skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
