JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Editor, Fiction, reporting to the Editorial Director, oversees Thomas Nelson and Zondervan front list titles from their entry into the typesetting process to bound books, including the management of all proofreading. They also maintain schedules for the editorial team to ensure on-time delivery as well as assisting with the catalog process. Further duties include, but are not limited to: Manage proofreading process; hiring, schedules, review and consolidation of marks. Responsible for the “Digi-Ready” process for front list titles as well as the preparation of back matter. Maintain all aspects of the editorial calendar. Maintain schedules and communicates deadlines to editors for timely manuscript delivery. Responsible for the endorsement process, and attends weekly production meetings.

SKILLS:

Desired candidate will have working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and preferably, The Chicago Manual of Style. The candidate should be self-disciplined, responsible, flexible, well organized and possess strong critical thinking skills. Must have good time management skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

Candidate will possess 1-3 years of editorial experience with a proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects. Familiarity with both the CBA and the general market industries preferred.

A college degree in preferably English, journalism, or related field desired.
