She's the first female Secretary of State and recently there were revelations about her Jewish roots. It's not surprising then, that the story of Madeleine Albright has become a hot one for publishers, with Lisa Drew, vice-president and publisher, Scribner/Lisa Drew Books, snapping up Time reporter Ann Blackman's proposed bio. And no doubt Knopf editor Ash Green will exercise an option on Washington Post reporter Michael Dobbs's proposed book on Albright (the house published Dobbs's Down with Big Brother: The Fall of the Soviet Empire), since Dobbs broke the story of Albright's background. And SMP's Tom Dunne has a September pub date for Democratic insider Thomas Blood's bio. As for Albright's own memoirs, we'll have to wait until she leaves office.
