Covert Operative Gets Book, Film Deal
Judy Quinn -- 9/15/97
Did the CIA kill some of an eight-member cover operations team in 1992 because they knew too much? That's the claim of the pseudonymous Bob King, who has just sold his book Spooky 8: The Final Mission to Doubleday for a reported $250,000, with Menace II Society filmmakers Allen and Albert Hughes picking up film rights for reportedly a cool million. Screenwriter Eric Bernt met King on the set of recent spy flick Surviving the Game, to which King served as advisor. Bernt helped King develop the book proposal and will write the script for the film adaptation. Doubleday plans publication of the book next August and plans to reveal the identity of the author on book tour.
