Now Ellen's Mom Will Be Out With a Book

Given his relationship with her daughter while he edited her book at Bantam, it's no surprise that Rob Weisbach has acquired a book by Ellen DeGeneres's mom, Betty DeGeneres for his Morrow imprint. The elder DeGeneres, who was pursued by other houses, will write about coming to terms with her child's homosexuality, as well as her new role as a spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign, a gay-rights group. And while Weisbach has taken heat for high celebrity book advances, particularly that rumored $6-million for Whoopi Goldberg's Book, this deal, negotiated by Washington lawyer Bob Barnett, was rumored to be for about $150,000.
