Kensington Launches Romance Book Club on QVC
Diane Patrick -- 2/2/98
Kensington Publishing has signed a deal to sell its top Zebra, Pinnacle and Kensington titles through a romance book club on popular TV retailer QVC.Kensington proposed the idea to QVC because the two share "a strong commitment to developing new and unique ways of selling products to the mass market," said Walter Zacharius, Kensington's chairman, adding that this type of book club is a first for QVC.
The on-air launch of the QVC Romance Book Club will take place over the Valentine's Day weekend, when bestselling Zebra author Janelle Taylor will make several appearances on the QVC channel.

When customers order the featured set (in this case, one hardcover and four paperbacks), they will automatically be enrolled in the book club. Every month thereafter, they will receive four discounted, just-released paperback romances, shipped from QVC. (Prices had not been determined at press time.) These titles will be available to club members shortly before they are available at retail, and will be sold within programs that mesh with romance themes.
