Soup, Glorious Soup
-- 8/3/98
The winning recipe from Health Communications Inc. marches on. The publisher's latest chicken soup to hit the (bestseller) spot is Chicken Soup for the Country Soul (packaged, natch, with a country music CD), which has already ladled up sales of more than 530,000 copies. Country music performers who have fallen on tough times are also benefiting from this book's sales, as HCI has earmarked 20 cents for every copy sold for the Opryland Foundation. Meanwhile, another new entry is adding to Health's health: Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul has 640,000 copies in the pipeline. Total domestic sales for the 17 Chicken Soup titles total nearly 31 million copies. The strongest seller is the first book, 1993's Chicken Soup for the Soul; total U.S. sales exceed 7.3 million. Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul is in second place (3.86 million) followed closely by ...Teenage Soul, with 3.39 million.
